The Area – Bottoms Cottage

Bottoms Cottage is tucked away in the historic village of Tintwistle, just off the Woodhead Pass (A628) which connects Manchester to Sheffield. The area is ideally located for exploration of the Peak District National Park, as well as use of numerous nearby amenities and attractions. Here, at the bottom of a sweet little lane, you will feel hidden away from the world whilst still being within good reach of many pubs, cafes and shops.

Ideally located…

Guests don’t have to venture far for a drink and hearty home cooked feast whilst staying at Bottoms Cottage – you’ll find our local pub, The Bulls Head, just a few paces away at the top of the lane. Here, our guests can enjoy a warm, dog friendly, welcome and discount on all meals. Beyond this, in Tintwistle there are some sweet little places to explore, but the area of Glossop holds many brilliant pubs, cafes and restaurants. Please see our ‘Things To Do’ page for an extensive list of our personal recommendations in the area, including food, drinks, walks and day trips too.

A picturesque setting…

The cottage itself has lovely, far-reaching views over the village, reservoir and hills beyond. Whatever the season, it really is a joy to watch the world go by, framed by the large sliding doors on your living room. There also is a raised terrace area with comfy seats, lighting and blankets to snuggle up and drink in the views (plus maybe a wine or two).

Endless Activities…

If the luxury accommodation wasn’t enough – there are many excellent walking routes right from your door, and more a short drive away including the Trans Pennine Trail, Mam Tor and Kinder Scout. For the avid cyclist or motorcyclist we are perfectly situated near both the famous Snake Pass and Woodhead Pass, plus for the outside adventurer there are endless exciting excursions to be had nearby, including climbing, watersports and clay pigeon shooting.
